Our Aging Well program offers a variety of classes and clinics to assist you in living the healthy life you wish to live as you get older.

Boosting Balance

Worried about falling? Let us help. Our FREE falls prevention workshop topics include:

  • Medications and falls risk, is there a link?
  • How your food choices and habits can support improved balance
  • What osteoporosis is and how tell if you are at risk
  • Simple daily movements that support balance and independence as we age
  • Tips to reduce your risk of injury at home and in the community

Falls are preventable. Join us to learn more.

Healthy Bones

This 4 week course gives participants information about how to live a healthy life with osteoporosis. Topics covered include: basics of osteoporosis and bone health; nutrition; proper movement and strategies for reducing falls and fractures; strengthening guidelines as outlined by Osteoporosis Canada; medication and treatment options available; next steps for caring for bone health. Interactive sessions.

Healthy Lifestyle Program (GLB)

This program is for people who want to prevent or manage chronic disease, and want to make diet and lifestyle changes to help improve their health. You are eligible if you have diabetes or pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, or increased risk for any chronic disease.

You will learn about:

  • Healthy eating to prevent or treat chronic disease  
  • Slowly and safely increasing physical activity
  • Problem solving, goal setting and staying motivated
  • Stress and time management
  • Taking charge of your health and wellness

The program lasts for six months, with one session every week (switching to every two weeks half way through), and each session is one hour long. This program is currently being offered virtually via Webex; you will need an email address and a device (computer, tablet, phone) with a camera and microphone.

Healthy Lifestyle Program (GLB) Follow-up Sessions

These session are open to anyone who has completed the Healthy Lifestyle Program (formerly called Group Lifestyle Balance (GLB)). 

Each session will have a short review of a topic covered during the Healthy Lifestyle Program (GLB), or a new concept related to preventing or managing chronic disease. There will also be time for discussion and Q&A. 

These sessions are currently being offered virtually via Webex; you will need an email address and a device (computer, tablet, phone) with a camera and microphone. Class will be held the first Thursday of every month at 4:00-5:00 PM. 

These sessions are drop-in, meaning you can come to as many or as few sessions as you want. However, because it is virtual, you do need to register so that we can send you an invitation.
